What happens to digital assets when their owner is no longer here?

As digital assets become part of personal and investment wealth, inheritance raises a critical question: how can their value be preserved and securely transferred to heirs?
We’re pleased to share new research by Yulia Leshchenko, Founder and Research Director of IRAIET:
“Digital Heritage under the Protection of Law: The Development of Notary Vladyslava Trach Based on Artificial Intelligence”.
Published in Scientific Notes of Lviv University of Business and Law, the article examines an AI-based digital inheritance system developed by notary Vladyslava Trach.
The research introduces a legal and economic framework for assessing whether such systems can preserve more estate value than they cost, considering asset recovery, access rights, transfer delays, operational costs, and security risks.
The study contributes to the broader discussion on how law and emerging technologies can support more secure and economically viable digital inheritance.
